‘Cosmopolis’ Screening in Paris (May 30th)


Tickets will be on sale starting May 14th, at 10am!

The tickets should be on sale on the movie theater’s website

ETA: There was a rumor that the red carpet wouldn’t be happening but it’s official now, there will be one!If you buy VIP tickets, you get in first, you have access to one of the first 125 seats (nearest to the screen) and you get a poster of the movie.

- A red carpet will be set in front of the theater. People can both do the red carpet and see the movie. For   

  security measures tho, when the cast will be in the hall to get into the movie theater, the door’s entry will be    

  close, even for people with VIP tickets.

- You can bring your camera.Ils sera possible d’amener vos appareils photos
- There will be a special access on the red carpet for people who are handicapped.
- Doors open at 6:30pm (Paris time)

Tickets prices go from 16€ to 29€.

'Cosmopolis' Red Carpet/Screening in Portugal (May 29th)

@veraleeon just received an email with more details from the ‘Cosmopolis’ screening in Portugal on May 29th.

According to her:


The screening is going to happen on Grand Auditorium of the CCB, on the 29th May at 8PM and will count with the presence of (confirmed to date) David Cronenberg – director, Robert Pattinson – the main actor, Don DeLillo – author and Paul Giamatti – actor.

Tomorrow (May 10, starting at 3PM), they will start to sell the tickets for the screening.

Ticket price: 10 €

You can buy ticket every day from 11am to 8pm.

An unexpected but promising collaboration, where the Twilight star plays a billionaire who drives through Manhattan in a limo high technology, premise of a self-destructive odyssey.
Fnac: What is your motivation for the adaptation of Don DeLillo's novel?
David Cronenberg: The dialogues. Reading the book, I thought I'd love to hear from the lips of excellent actors. And from the cinematographic point of view, was a wonderful challenge to shoot in a limousine in motion. I asked my team to see the movie Das Boot and Lebanon, two films made in isolated places. It's quite liberating to have a scenic structure as rigorous as that requires rethinking the traditional approach of cinema, not only in relation to the movement of the camera but also in relation to the choreography of the performance.

How and why Robert Pattinson was casted as Eric Packer in Cosmopolis!

ROBERT PATTINSON ERIC PACKER COSMOPOLIS – In Cosmopolis, Eric Packer is a selfish young member of the ruling class, at the top of the super-rich 1%. He is an anti-hero whose privileged reality is decadent and isolated. Casting Robert Pattinson in this unsympathetic role wasn’t obvious. Robert’s super-stardom perhaps gives him some insight to the pressures of success, but his pressures include the attention of a zealous fan base that might expect him in a different role. And he is younger than Eric Packer was envisioned, an age difference that influences the rest of the casting process. On the other hand, young billionaires and tech-savvy traders are not unusual in today’s society. Plus, casting Robert presents an opportunity to attract a new generation to David Cronenberg’s work.

Ultimately, the choice rested on Pattinson’s talent and experience, with or without celebrity. Cronenberg found Robert mature and willing to challenge himself: “…Rob is not deluded about his fame; he understands that popularity is not the essence of being a good actor, and recognizes the danger of taking projects to please others rather than himself.” Bringing the egomaniacal Eric Packer to life required Pattinson to forget being a sympathetic character.

The soundtrack for Cosmopolis reunites composer Howard Shore and the band METRIC for another cinematic collaboration. While writing the score for David Cronenberg’s film adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel Cosmopolis, Shore conceived of a particular live sound to achieve his vision and invited METRIC to perform the score and co-write three songs. The music was recorded in November 2011 at the band’s own Giant Studios in Toronto, produced by Howard Shore and METRIC guitarist Jimmy Shaw, and mixed by John O’Mahony at Liberty Studios in Toronto and Electric Lady Studios in NYC. The result is an atmospheric, urban soundscape of analog synths and layered guitars featuring the hypnotic vocals of METRIC lead singer Emily Haines. The Cosmopolis soundtrack also features “Mecca” by Somali Singer/Rapper K’NAAN with lyrics by the artist and Don DeLillo.

Any Brazilian fans? 'Cosmopolis' to hit theatres in Brazil July 13th!

Lucky you guys!! No date for the U.S yet. But Brazil get Cosmopolis July 13th, this according to imagemfilmes, who posted the following on their site:

"Cosmopolis is running for the Golden Palm at Cannes this year and hits theaters in Brazil in July.

Starring Robert Pattinson (Twilight), Cosmopolis is based on the book by Don DeLillo and monitors for 24 hours in the life of millionaire Erick Packer (Pattinson) that crosses the city for a haircut, but happens to get in the way of surprises and unusual people transform this simple task in a hallucinatory journey.
